Greek Rice

This recipe was passed down from my grandmother, who undoubtedly learned it from another member of my family decades ago.  This recipe is almost always included in every holiday meal as a side dish. Greek Rice 1 pound of lean hamburger meat (97% lean) 2 cups uncooked long grain rice 1 large (or 2 medium) onions 2 teaspoons cinnamon 1 teaspoon garlic powder 1/4 teaspoon ground cloves 1/4 teaspoon ground ginger salt and pepper to taste 3 cups water Dice onions in to small bits.  In a large skillet, brown hamburger and onions.  If you used hamburger with a large fat content, you’ll want to strain off the fat.  If you use 97% lean hamburger, this step is not necessary because you want to have a little fat left in the pan.  Add remaining ingredients except water.  Cook on medium heat … Read entire article »

Christmas Meal?

I’m curious to know if people have a traditional Christmas day meal, and if so, what does it include. At my house, we usually have 2 meats, Turkey and Ham.  We have a large family, and many people usually come to our house for Christmas, so there’s usually a lot of food.  There are always leftovers which are enjoyed for several days afterwards.
